Editorial and festival listing standards
These standards explain what we prefer to publish, how submissions are evaluated, and how corrections are handled. They are intended to make the site more useful for visitors and fairer to organizers.
Editorial purpose
Content should help a real person discover, compare, or plan for a United States festival. Pages are not created solely to target search phrases, meet a word count, or imitate another directory.
Preferred sources
Current official festival and organizer websites are preferred. Depending on the event, useful supporting sources may include venues, municipalities, tourism offices, cultural organizations, tribal nations, schools, nonprofits, and verified community institutions. Social posts may support a recent update but are not automatically sufficient on their own.
Details we try to support
Important details include the festival name, year, dates, hours, venue, city and state, admission, ticket source, age guidance, accessibility, transportation, official URL, and material weather or cancellation language. If a critical fact is uncertain, the page should say so or wait for confirmation.
Submissions
A submission is a request for editorial review. It does not guarantee publication, a response deadline, exact wording, a permanent listing, or a particular position. Submissions may be edited for clarity, style, verification, and visitor usefulness.
Corrections and updates
Source-backed corrections are welcome. Send the page URL, requested change, and official source through the contact form. Cancellations, date changes, venue moves, and public-safety information receive priority when they can be verified.
Sponsored and commercial relationships
If sponsored placements or affiliate relationships are introduced, they will be labeled where a visitor can understand the relationship. Payment will not be presented as independent editorial endorsement.
Software-assisted work
Software may help organize information, draft page structures, check consistency, or identify missing fields. It is not a source. Festival facts should be reviewed against relevant evidence, and invented dates, quotes, attendance figures, awards, rankings, and experiences are prohibited.
Respect and representation
Cultural and heritage events should use organizer-preferred names and context. Content should not stereotype communities, treat sacred or commemorative traditions as spectacle, or imply participation rights that the organizer has not granted.
Removal requests
Legitimate organizers may request a correction or removal. The request may be verified before action is taken, especially when competing sources or public-interest information are involved.
