Winter Festivals in Florida: 6 Fun Trips for 2026–2027

Choose a Florida winter festival by city, date, and travel style, from Fort Lauderdale's decorated boats to Tampa parades and Miami's Coconut Grove Arts Festival.

Winter festivals in Florida offer more than holiday lights. You can plan a December evening around decorated boats in Fort Lauderdale, a January trip around Tampa’s pirate parades, or a February weekend around art in Coconut Grove. Fairs add another option for travelers who want food, exhibits, entertainment, and rides in one place.

This guide covers December 2026 through February 2027, with six event choices whose dates were published by organizers when we checked on September 21, 2026. Some detailed ticket prices and programs are still developing. Confirm your exact date and ticket type before making nonrefundable travel plans.

Think of these as alternative trips rather than one continuous itinerary. The dates span three months, and the cities are spread across the state. Our USA winter festival guide is useful if you are comparing Florida with a snowy destination.

Six winter festivals in Florida to plan around

1. Winterfest Boat Parade: a Fort Lauderdale holiday evening

Saturday, December 12, 2026. The Winterfest organizer lists a 5:30 p.m. preshow and 6 p.m. parade start. The attraction is a procession of decorated boats, so choosing a suitable viewing location is as important as choosing the date.

The official public viewing-area page identifies Las Olas Intracoastal Promenade Park at 80 Las Olas Circle. It advertises afternoon activities before the parade and was still showing tickets as forthcoming at our check. A page confirming an event is not proof that all ticket types are already on sale.

Choose your viewing arrangement first, then plan parking, walking, and dinner around it. Ask about seating and access if anyone in your group cannot comfortably stand for long periods. Bring a layer for the evening, and allow time to leave with other spectators once the boats have passed.

2. South Florida Fair: a flexible January date

January 15–31, 2027, in the West Palm Beach area. The fair’s 2027 official program resource confirms the date range. The organizer describes the fair as a combination of shows, rides, shopping, food, and agricultural activities.

A multi-day fair gives you more flexibility than a single-night parade. You can choose a day that suits your travel plans, then check the specific entertainment and exhibit schedule. Consult the fair’s 2027 information and current visitor pages as the season approaches.

Do not carry over last year’s admission prices, ride-wristband deals, or discount days. Compare the new year’s options once posted. For a family, estimate the total for entry, rides, food, and parking before deciding whether a longer visit or shorter afternoon makes more sense.

3. Children’s Gasparilla: pick the family parade date

Saturday, January 23, 2027, in Tampa. The Gasparilla organizer lists Children’s Gasparilla separately from the main Pirate Fest. Its family program centers on a children’s parade and associated activities.

That one-week difference is easy to miss when booking. Make sure your calendar, hotel reservation, and any purchased seating all refer to Children’s Gasparilla on January 23. The official ticket vendor states that the 2027 children’s parade will begin at 3:30 p.m.; use the final event schedule for the rest of the day.

Our suggestion is to plan the day around your child’s comfortable time outdoors. Review the route, toilets, permitted bags, and where you will reunite if separated. Reserved seating may simplify the outing for some families, but check the actual seat location and inclusions before purchasing.

4. Gasparilla Pirate Fest: Tampa’s main pirate celebration

Saturday, January 30, 2027. The official Pirate Fest page confirms the date and describes the waterborne invasion, Parade of Pirates, and live entertainment along the Tampa Riverwalk. This is a separate event day from Children’s Gasparilla.

Choose the part of the celebration you most want to see before planning where to stand or sit. A waterfront invasion view, a parade seat, and a music-stage visit have different timing and location needs. The organizer provides route and transportation information and notes limited parking.

For paid seating or hospitality, follow the organizer’s official ticket link and read the inclusions. Arrange your journey back before the day begins, particularly if your group will be drinking. If your priority is a children’s outing, compare this program with the dedicated family event rather than assuming the two days offer the same experience.

5. Florida State Fair: a Tampa February option

February 4–15, 2027. The Florida State Fairgrounds website confirms the dates. It is a separate event from the South Florida Fair in Palm Beach County, despite the similar names.

Start with the official fair visitor information when planning exhibits, agricultural programming, rides, and entertainment. Check the 2027 daily calendar and ticket offers as they are released; an older fair page may retain previous-year details.

This option works well if your group wants a choice of activities without moving between multiple city venues. Build the day around two or three priorities, with a meal and rest break between them. For travelers with mobility needs, ask about the distance from parking, available rentals, and routes to the exhibits you want to see.

6. Coconut Grove Arts Festival: a Miami arts weekend

February 13–15, 2027, in Coconut Grove. The festival’s official information page lists the address as 2700 South Bayshore Drive, Miami, with the event extending along nearby streets. Published hours are 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday.

This is the choice for visitors whose main interest is visual art and browsing artists’ work. Leave time to look carefully and talk with exhibitors instead of racing through every booth. If you hope to buy, know your approximate budget, space measurements, and options for taking work home.

The organizer’s photography policy says visitors should not photograph artists’ work at individual booths. Follow posted rules and ask before taking pictures. The event page also provides transport and accessibility information. For broader ideas, see our arts and craft festival guide.

Choose a city before building the rest of the trip

For a holiday atmosphere: start with Fort Lauderdale and Winterfest. Treat the evening viewing arrangement as the fixed commitment, with daytime plans nearby.

For a January or February Tampa trip: compare Children’s Gasparilla, the main Pirate Fest, and the State Fair. Their dates and audiences differ. Choose the event first, then accommodation with a practical route to it.

For art and browsing: consider Coconut Grove’s February weekend. A slower day at an arts festival can be a better fit than a parade if you prefer moving at your own pace.

For fair food and multiple activities: compare South Florida Fair with the Florida State Fair. Let the destination and available dates decide rather than confusing their names. Our food and drink festival guide offers more choices if eating is the main goal.

Check the full cost and the way home

Separate festival entry from reserved seating, rides, tasting purchases, parking, and transport. A ticket labeled “hospitality” may include more than entry, while a ride pass may not include fair admission. Read the current offer rather than relying on the product name.

For a parade, decide how long you are comfortable waiting and how far you can walk. For a fair, decide whether rides are essential. For an arts festival, consider shipping or luggage limits before buying something large. These small decisions often have more effect on the budget than the headline ticket price.

Pack for your actual forecast

A Florida winter trip still needs a weather check for the particular city and time of day. Bring comfortable walking shoes, sun protection for daytime visits, rain protection, and a layer for a cooler evening. Waterfront waiting and an active afternoon in the sun can call for different clothing.

Carry a charged phone, save tickets offline, and set a meeting place with your group. Check venue rules for water bottles, bags, strollers, and chairs before packing them. Our festival planning guide and family festival guide cover these practical details.

Questions about Florida winter festivals

Does Florida have winter festivals without snow?

Yes. The options here center on boats, parades, food, agriculture, and art. Choose the atmosphere you want rather than expecting snow-based winter-carnival activities.

Are Children’s Gasparilla and Pirate Fest the same date?

No. The 2027 children’s event is January 23, while the main Pirate Fest is January 30. Check that any hotel or seating reservation matches the event you intend to attend.

What if my trip is in March?

For an early-spring extension, the Florida Strawberry Festival lists March 4–14, 2027, in Plant City. It falls outside this guide’s December–February window. Check its own concert and ticket information before adding it to your plans.
